My name is Rachel Simba born in Zimbabwe but currently studying Hospitality Management at The Swiss Hotel School in South Africa. I love everything about fashion. I would say I eat, sleep and dream fashion. Recently, I unleashed my confidence through fashion and expressing myself through it. I am loving it as it has opened up my mind so much.
I shop anywhere and like everyone else, I LOVE SALES AND DISCOUNTS. My sense of style would be best described as chic but i am willing to try new outfits. I pray my blog reaches and inspires people who share my obsession with all things fashionable and who dare to be fashion risk takers just like me.

Hey yummiest people. And I’m back. Hope all of you have been keeping well I know it has been a while since I have blogged and it feels good to be back. Me writing to you was my getaway but I had to disappear for a bit because I was not in the right space to produce content. After some crazy experiences and soul searching, it is good to be back with some great content. I’m very excited to be sharing some stories with you and continue my fashion journey.
Hey yummy people! Hope you all have been well, it has been a while since I have posted! It has been a busy schedule, but I am back and glad to share with you the journey I have embarked on and how it has transformed me. A journey to the power of fashion!
The picture I have used in this post definitely describes the point I am at and where fashion has taken me. A place of happiness, confidence, freedom, and taking risks in fashion. This is my identity, me reinvented.
Growing up, my wardrobe was very limited to dresses and skirts. Anything else was deemed provocative. This was due to reasons beyond my control. Religion and strict parents! Deep down I knew there was more variety than dresses and skirts. I mean I had seen my friends all dressed up, and I would wonder. So guess what, in primary school during civvies day I would sneak a pair of jeans and a top into my school bag that I would have borrowed. After school I would then change back into my normal clothes. It felt like a day playing Cinderella and at midnight it would all disappear. How sad! But the thrill and excitement was worth it.
So quickly fast forwarding to my early twenties, this is when I only managed to escape this imprisonment. I moved to South Africa for university and oh my, I could not believe my eyes. My mind found it difficult to wrap around the idea that there was more! And I wanted it all. This infinite possibility made me feel as if there were infinite possibilities for who I could be in this life time. This is when I tried it all. This was my escape. My remedy. My momentary relief. Trying on clothes transported me and gave me worlds I could never and would never live in. It allowed me to be anyone I wanted to be – anyone other than myself while simultaneously being versions of myself I knew were possible to be.
When I was in my teenage phase, I needed that escape. Today, I use that hint of imagination and story telling to create outfits and looks of my own. This time, I am always me. I am not escaping but rather enhancing. Now I would consider myself to be quite a fashionable person. I would also like to consider myself to be someone who can march to the beat of my own drum. I love bold dark colors, they express the power and confidence I have. Bright colors express the happiness that this journey has brought me so far. And the places I will still go. I go haywire for heels too. The way that a woman’s posture and demeanor changes completely when she slips them on; they heighten both her strength and fragility. They are the plinths for the body. If you were to spend a day with me, its either I am window shopping, actual shopping, or on Instagram hunting new looks and absorbing inspiration.
I want to dive down the hole of silks, slips and stilettos and emerge as a style savvy fashion encyclopedia and goddess!
Fashion is an outlet, an escape, a wonderland of possibility. I can’t draw, dance or sing, well I try sing and dance though hahaha! but fashion gives me the ability to express my creativity through another medium. I’m willing to let the higher power of the fashion hierarchy guide me along that journey. If I can feel good in what I am wearing I will happily dance to the beat of the fashion industry’s drum.
Fashion gave me options: Who do you want to be?
Fashion gave me a way out: You can anything you want if you would like.
Fashion gave me my identity: This is who you are.
Fashion gave me my imagination: Stretch the limit, you can create new things. Take risks also!
Fashion gave me my dreams: In five years, you will be able to be this.
Today, I use fashion to empower and instill confidence. Something that I did not grow up having. Some days when you are just not with it, try on your most sophisticated, sexy, or stylish outfit in your closet. Put heels on or whatever shoe you like. Look in the mirror. Walk around. Stand up straight.
Feel the transformation power rush over you. Feel yourself decked out with armor – armor of a goddess that shields you from whatever negative thought or scenario is clouding your mind. Feel it not only save you but instill a spark of creativity that you can carry your day with.
Hey yummy people hope you have been having a wonderful week. I am excited about this new post as I got the chance to celebrate Heritage day .On this day South Africans from across the nation dress up in their extravagant attires. From Xhosa, Zulu, Tswana, Ndebele, Venda, SiSwati, the list goes on but I can only name a few. Though I am not South African myself, as I mentioned before in my first blog post. I am currently studying in South Africa, it is so exciting to see the streets of Johannesburg colorful with different attires from different cultures. It is quite a breathtaking fashion show. I would call it a cultural street fashion show. As for me, I decided to rock up with this outfit which I assembled together. I love playing around with different pieces, so I decided to use a piece of cloth that was just lying in my wardrobe as a one shoulder piece and an African necklace piece. I worked with what was available and I believe simplicity is the utmost sophistication.
